Soroptimist International - Western Canada Region is pleased to present another event in our ongoing series "Sharing Soroptimist Stories." This episode features moderator, Brianna Pope, an Indigenous high school student and member of the Stswecem’c Xget’tem first nation; and panelists Jessa Sky a talented singer-songwriter and proud Metis-Cree woman from Treaty 6 Territory, and Dr. Michelle Bomberry, an Indigenous Health Services Manager from the Six Nations of the Grand River. They will be discussing their participation in Soroptimist Western Canada Region's ongoing project, the Virtual Career Library (VCL). In addition, we have a special guest appearance from Machellee Kosiak, an Indigenous midwife educator from Queensland, Australia. The VCL was conceived during COVID as a way to bring the stories of role models from a wide variety of careers to high school girls who couldn't attend in-person Dream It Be It events. It is now available to anyone who wishes to know more about an array of career options, but is especially useful for those in remote communities. It features interviews by many Indigenous roles models, including the panelists on the call. You can find the VCL here: www.virtualcareerlibrary.ca You can find out more about Soroptimist International Western Canada Region here: www.wcsoroptimist.org
