Mona Behrouzian was a first-place finalist in the 2025 UBC Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition. Mona presented her research, “Young Athletes, Big Decisions: Improving How Clinicians Assess Re-Injury Risk Using a Novel Data Analysis Tool.”
Mona aims to improve return-to-sport decisions for young athletes after knee surgery by using motion capture technology and Principal Component Analysis to identify hidden movement patterns that may indicate injury risk. The study seeks to create objective, data-driven criteria to better protect patients and prevent re-injury.
Mona Behrouzian is completing her MASc in Biomedical Engineering at the School of Biomedical Engineering under the supervision of Dr. Calvin Kuo.
