Former Judas Priest lead guitarist KK Downing has been a busy man since he left the legendary British Metallers over seven years ago and it was a real pleasure to catch up with him at his new Metal venue, KK's Steel Mill, last week in Wolverhampton.
This is a venue that is not only steeped in history but rooted in ambition too and KK talks us through the founding of Steel Mill and touches upon the plans for its future.
KK released his autobiography in September, 'Heavy Duty - Days And Nights In Judas Priest', and it's a revealing read with anecdotes aplenty and a fair share of surprises as well.
The real reasons for and circumstances of his departure from one of the most influential Metal bands of all time are laid bare, and the book is by far the most searching biopic of Priest ever.
KK touches on many aspects of the books content in our interview as well as his plans for his own musical future and what exactly where the future of Heavy Metal may lay.
