In this 3 part lesson, we will take a basic melody (Scarborough Fair,) then apply two basic arranging techniques: a bass line and rolling arpeggios
In this video, I show you the melody to Scarborough Fair. This is part 1 of a 3 part lesson. In this part, I show you the melody (main musical idea) in simple TAB on screen along with cameras on both my left and right hands as well as the full guitar.
In the next section, (part 2) of this lesson, we take the melody and add under it a bass line, and we add a technique known as a slide shift or a sliding anchor.
In section 3, we add rolling arpeggios (chord played one note at a time) to fill in the empty places and to add abetter sense of rhythm/time signature/meter. This will also give the music a constant flow of notes that create a smoother texture.
