Trains at Middle Footscray; Summer Start Timetable Comeng Siemens & HCMT - Melbourne Transport [4k]

In this video we visit Middle Footscray, a station on the Sunbury Line in Melbourne's inner west. Middle Footscray is one of the most popular stations in Melbourne for gunzels as it's wedged in the middle of a busy rail corridor. To the south you have the Regional Rail Link tracks used by V/Line trains on the Ballarat, Bendigo, and Geelong lines, and to the north you have the freight lines (including the interstate standard gauge lines) in and out of Melbourne.

We visit Middle Footscray on a Saturday afternoon during the Summer Start period for the Metro Tunnel, which sees extra services with High Capacity Metro Train's (HCMT's) that operate through the Metro Tunnel run alongside the existing Sunbury Line timetable. As a result the Summer Start gives us a two-month window where you can regularly see Comeng, Siemens, and HCMT's operating alongside one another on the Sunbury Line.

On the 1st February 2026 a new timetable will come into effect on the Sunbury Line which will see all services run via the Metro Tunnel with HCMT's, meaning Comeng and Siemens trains will no longer operate on the Sunbury Line.

Alongside the Comeng, Siemens and HCMT's we also see a couple of V/Line Vlocities, and SCT Logistic's CSR012 with a short container train heading towards Laverton.
