Cygnal Principal and Pollster Nick Weinstein weighs in on Republican Matt Van Epps winning the Tennessee special election by a narrow margin.
“This is a district in Tennessee that President Trump won by 22 points, obviously a safely Republican district,” Mr Weinstein told Sky News Digital Presenter Gabriella Power.
“Matt Van Epps won it, but by a significantly closer margin than the President won … there’s going to be folks on both sides that are going to look at those results, and they are going to be concerned.
“Democrats are way more energised right now than the Republicans are … it is not surprising that the Democrats are going to outperform expectations.
“It really does give us a playbook for what we need to do next year, which is to execute an agenda that works for the American people.”
