This video demonstrates how to remove the defective aluminum capacitors that are known to fail on the Sega Game Gear VA1 USA Motherboard. I demonstrate a couple different methods to make removing these fairly easy with only a set of tweezers and a soldering iron. These capacitors are also held in place with epoxy, which is what can make removing these tricky. Luckily the vast majority of these handhelds are so old the epoxy has lost some of its strength and heating it with a soldering iron is a simple and effective way to break the bond between the capacitor and the printed circuit board.

If you need a picture showing the capacitors removed in this video and their rating you can find that at https://www.tzirf.com/index.php?actio...
What you will need to do this:
Soldering Iron
Tweezers
Flux
IPA & Qtip for cleaning
For additional resources & guides you can visit my website https://www.tzirf.com. It is a forum based website where I post all the repairs I am working on so that the resources are there for others to do the same repairs. If you are working on a repair and want to share it, or need help with your repair I encourage you to join and make a post.
