We all know how important and convenient it is to have your driver's license when living in South Africa. However, what is supposed to be a straightforward process is drawn out and made difficult by corrupt systems and hungry, greedy stomachs. I also know how mentally daunting this process can be, making you want to give up and causing much frustration, anxiety and despondence.


In this video, I share my experience with the licensing system to empathize with the challenges that many of us face on a daily in our attempt to become independent. As occupational beings, we do not function in isolation, but our existence and success is dependent on and intertwined with our surrounding environment. However, what must happen when your surrounding environment presents barriers that hinder your progress?
