▶ In this video I talk about the etymology of Mexican State Names. Mexico is a federal republic, and its territory is organized into 31 states and one federal district: Mexico City. Throughout the video I go through each of these states: Aguascalientes, Baja California, Baja California Sur, Campeche, Chiapas, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Colima, Durango, Guanajuato, Guerrero, Hidalgo, Jalisco, Mexico (Estado de México), Michoacán, Morelos, Nayarit, Nuevo León, Oaxaca, Puebla, Querétaro, Quintana Roo, San Luis Potosí, Sinaloa, Sonora, Tabasco, Tamaulipas, Tlaxcala, Veracruz, Yucatán, and Zacatecas. usually coming from a term of the native Nahuatl Language, although other native, Aztec, and Latin idioms are also sometimes at the origin. Some are interpretations and translations/adaptations, others are Spanish, namely those that reference Christian Saints. By summarizing this topic, I believe we are able to get a good understanding of the origin and meaning of each of Mexico's states
