The lakeside town of Mandello del Lario is situated in the Province of Lecco, on the shores of Lake Como, between the city of Lecco to its south and Lierna to its north.
Despite being one of the prettiest towns on the lake, a real hidden gem, it's so far evaded the influx of tourists of its famous neighbouring towns, like Varenna.
If you want to stay away from the chaos of peak season, but still visit a beautiful, non-touristy town, Mandello is the perfect place for you!
It's a lively and colourful little town, the picturesque square of Piazza Italia is fringed by open-air restaurants looking out onto the lake.
The town is home to the Moto-Guzzi motorcycle company, one of the most prestigious Italian motorcycle makers. The company's presence has been an integral part of the local economy since it was founded in 1921.
