What goes into a 5-second pass on the quarter? With 3000HP from around 100PSI of boost to hit 5 second passes at speeds in excess of 400kph, there is not much detail that is overlooked on this Rod Harvey Racing billet blocked 2jz build.

With many years at the top of the results tables with his old Celica, Rod Harvey and his Yuasa Batteries Toyota Camry are doing the same with a current (at publishing) 5.69-second ET at 269 MPH making him the 4th quickest Sport Compact with some more left in the tank to chase the current 5.55 ET record.

Rod discusses why the change from the older Celica chassis was needed, the importance of a billet block for performance and safety along with how using factory blocks is difficult at this level of competition and power even if it was preferred. A 106 and 110 Precision turbo are both used depending on the day, although the 106 is a more familiar choice for the setup with increases in turbo sizes not quite giving the same large increases in performance that were seen a few years ago changing the game again a little when it comes to experience and setup vs size.

Also touched on is why Rod chooses to use an intercooler which is not always seen at this level and how MoTeC now supplies a firmware package based off Rod and teams work over the years getting things dialled in for their engine and chassis.

Boost control is also discussed with the car using no wastegate, and a DBW throttle body controlled setup instead.
