Andy Williams sings "My Cherie Amour," a Motown ballad (written by Stevie Wonder, Sylvia Moy, and Henry Cosby), live on his syndicated "Andy" musical-variety series in 1976. The regular "gramophone" segment of the show featured a song from one of Andy's Columbia albums, with the opening bars of the record played at the beginning until Andy and the television studio band take over live.
"My Cherie Amour" was the opening track of Andy's 1969 album, "Get Together with Andy Williams," which was RIAA-certified as his 14th gold album in 1970. Many may be surprised by Andy's affinity for Motown tunes, having recorded or sung live "Never Can Say Goodbye," "I'll Be There," "I'm Gonna Make You Love Me," "Ain't No Mountain High Enough," and others. In fact, in 1975, Stevie Wonder wrote a song for Andy, "What Happens To," which Andy recorded that year for his album, "The Other Side of Me."
