For the first cake design, I used the left over fondant rainbow canes from my Clay Extruder Experiment video. Then after I saw what that pattern looked like on the cake, I ripped it off and began to knead it together and discovered that the pattern that was being created was cool looking, so I rolled that out and recovered the cake. This was a very different cake from the first. Which do you prefer more?
I wish I would've overlapped the rainbow slices on the first cake so there would've been less white space, but you live and learn! That's what these experiments are all about.
FONDANT
I use Fantasia Fondant for this technique because it has a long working time and does a good job of sticking together. http://www.fantasiafondant.com
