Recently I explored the now-abandoned 88-tonne Danish-built Pearl of the Dane steam party boat in Congleton, Cheshire.
First I was very surprised that there was this random abandoned boat just sitting there on the river. The steamboat had potential flood risk warnings so the council was looking at removing it and even thought that the boat was not moored properly so it had the potential to float off.
The former 80-seater floating restaurant has been empty for several years and was opened as a steamboat restaurant in 1997 and is now heavily targeted by vandals and may not survive much longer.
