It was time to explore the highest point of Odisha – Deomali Peak (5000 ft). After covering Koraput and Jeypore, we started late in the evening and crossed the Deomali checkpost around 8 PM. The drive through dense fog and low visibility was risky, and we lost our way to the Deomali Nature Camp. Finally, locals guided us to the property, where we stayed the night. The location is breathtaking – green hills right from the cottage balcony and the constant sound of the wind. Though the service could have been better, the views made up for it. Next morning, the fog lasted till 10 AM, but once it cleared, Deomali offered a magnificent mountain view. After breakfast, we headed to Rani Duduma Waterfall (50 km away), located on Nandapur Hill. Surrounded by forests, it is a popular picnic spot with an amusement park for children, making it ideal for families.

From there, we went to the famous Duduma (Machkund) Waterfall, a 157 m high single-drop fall on the Odisha–Andhra border. Formed by the Machkund River, it also holds cultural significance, being home to Bonda, Gadaba, and Paraja tribes.

Though we missed Gupteswar Shiva Temple and Balda Cave due to time, our journey continued to Bastar Greens Eco Stay near Jagdalpur. Set amidst greenery, the tribal-style cottages with modern facilities offered a peaceful retreat.
