Elvis’ studio recording of “Kentucky Rain” remains one of Elvis’ finest recordings, and one of his most popular among his vast legion of fans. He included it on his set list for his second Las Vegas engagement, which began almost a year on since he recorded it at American Sound in Memphis.
This rendition was performed a year and four days after the studio master was recorded, and would be the final time that he would sing it on stage in Las Vegas. It remained on the set list for his short engagement in the Houston Astrodome soon after this Las Vegas closing show.
It was sung at all of these shows, apart from the opening show, meaning that Elvis would perform the song live just a further five times.
As with all of these videos, to get the most out of the re-edited audio, I highly recommend you use ear /headphones and turn the volume up as much as you dare!
