When I was a kid, my dad used to play Guns N' Roses' cover of "Knockin on Heaven's Door" in the car. My sister would play the air "piano," my brother would play the air "guitar," and I would play the drums by ferociously banging on my front-facing carseat. What a time to be alive. The family band had a gig every time we drove long distances, and I must say we sounded amazing ;) It wasn't until I was 14 years old that I found out Bob Dylan was the original artist of "Knockin' On Heaven's Door." The folk-rock mix of this song I knew to be hard rock for so long brought on a whole new meaning to it.

With this cover, I hope to do for you what Bob Dylan's song did for me. An even softer and intentional paced version of this song makes room for its lyrics and the emotion behind them. However, I couldn't record it without getting a little raspy/rocky near the end to pay homage to MY original exposure to this song through Guns N' Roses cover. Thanks for listening!
