Used to describe the cause of a bad result.
私のせいで、この会社は倒産しそうだ。
Because of me, this company is going bankrupt.

昨日、飲みすぎたせいで、頭が痛くて気持ち悪い。
I have a headache and feel bad because I drank too much yesterday.

私が大学に行けないのは貧乏なせいです。
I can't go to college because of my poverty.

てForm＋しまった＋せいで
友達の名前を呼び間違えてしまったせいで、嫌われてしまったようです。
It looks like I am hated because I misnamed my friend.
