Colorado Rainbow & Brown Trout (on the dry fly)! (S2:E5)!

I went back up to a local river, enjoyed some elk, and landed around a 1/2 dozen more trout! The surface bite was the key on this day and the dry fly got it done! I hit the river first, followed by Lake Estes! I missed one on the lake and decided to head back to the moving water.

A small midge hatch came off and that totally saved the day! A size 24 cream colored midge on the surface led to 4 fish in the net in about 20 minutes flat!

This area of Colorado is absolutely packed with people, but I don’t mind it! It’s sometimes fun to fish with friends and meet other anglers on the river.

This river has some rainbow trout, some brown trout, and has some brooders in it! It’s a fun river that flows into the lake, and offers tailwater river fishing down below!

It’s always fun seeing our local wildlife on the trip to fish! I had the herd of Colorado elk right off the road on the way up and the way back! I never get tired of seeing them….

After that frantic action, it was time to head back down to coach tennis in Loveland, Colorado!
