The first game of the Resident Evil marathon is Resident Evil 1, released on PS1 on August 01, 1996 (EU).
Let's start our hardcore marathon with the very first game in the series. As a kid, I never played a game as Chris. 6 inventory slots? Just a knife? You're kidding! Yeah, I never got past the first zombie :)
A few words about the game. In my opinion, Resident Evil has stood the test of time. Even now, this game can captivate, intrigue, and frighten, despite the ancient graphics and terrible dialogues.
Unfortunately, I only played it a couple of times as a kid – I was too engrossed with other PS1 games, so I have almost no memories of it. So, mostly, game felt like the first playthrough, and damn, it was awesome. Dogs jumping out of the window, a zombie emerging from the closet, Yawn in the attic – they all evoked the emotions that make me love the horror genre.
The sounds, music, and suspense in this game are simply top-notch. Reading notes and diaries is a distinct pleasure. Usually, everything I read in a game fades from my memory immediately after finishing it, but not here. The stories of the Umbrella staff are brilliantly written. I haven't enjoyed simply getting to know the world of Resident Evil this much in a long time.
I completed the game without taking any damage and completely killed all enemies. It took many hours to memorize all the locations, and I did the final run surrounded by sheets of paper with notes of each room. :)

Первая игра марафона по Resident Evil – Resident Evil 1, вышедшая на PS1 01 августа 1996 (EU).
Начнём наш хардкорный марафон с самой первой игры серии. В детстве я ни разу не проходил игру за Криса. 6 ячеек инвентаря? Только нож? Да вы шутите! Да, дальше первого зомби я и не проходил :)
Пару слов об игре. На мой взгляд, Resident Evil прошел проверку временем. Даже сейчас эта игра способна и увлечь, и заинтриговать, и напугать, несмотря на древнюю графику и ужасные диалоги.
К сожалению, в детстве я играл в неё всего пару раз – слишком сильно был увлечён другими играми на PS1, поэтому воспоминаний о ней у меня практически не было. Так что, большая часть игры ощущалась как в первый раз и, чёрт побери, это было классно. Выпрыгивающие из окна собаки, зомби, выходящий из шкафа, змея на чердаки смогли подарить те эмоции, за которые я и люблю жанр хоррор.
Звуки, музыка и саспенс в этой игре просто на высоте. Чтение заметок и дневников – отдельное наслаждение. Обычно, всё, что читаю в игре, выветривается из памяти сразу после прохождения игры, но не здесь. Истории персонала Umbrella шикарно написаны. Давно не получал такого удовольствия от простого знакомства с миром Resident Evil.
Игра пройдена без получения урона и с полной зачисткой всех врагов. Потребовалось потратить очень много часов на заучивание всех локаций и финальный забег я делал, обложившись листами с заметками по каждой комнате :)
