Out of deep compassion and my burning desire to save the world,
I spare no effort, even if it means kindly nagging and speaking endlessly.

The World-Honored One (the Buddha) also, moved by great causes and conditions,
Pointed directly to the sorrow of life and death—how truly lamentable it is!

The Lord Lao (Laozi) too was troubled for the sake of beings like myself,
He revealed the mystery of the Valley Spirit—yet people failed to recognize it.

Today I briefly speak of the path to truth,
The Golden Mean that leads to principle, as carried in the Great Changes (the Yijing).

To dwell rightly in the body is to find the Mysterious Gate;
Between the hours of midnight and noon, one may truly settle the breath.
