Laura Netzel (1839-1927)
Sweden

Née Pistolekurs in Rantasalmi, Finland she moved to Stockholm at the age of one
A Swedish pianist and composer, she was also a concert arranger and orchestra director
She studied composition with Wilhelm Heintze and Charles-Marie Widor
In 1866, she married Wilhelm Netzel, a gynaecologist and professor
Mother of 3 children
She was a successful composer under the name “Lago”; her true identity as a woman composer was only revealed in 1891
She organized many events to benefit charities and the poor
