Ep86 | Was this a BAD IDEA? Running into problems upgrading our ALTERNATOR | Linnea Sailing

BOAT work means MORE work..
Sailing on a tight schedule, constantly on the move to catch the right weather windows, delays are not welcome! But here we are, already delayed 4 days when we run into a new problem.

Upgrading the alternator means we can charge our batteries faster. The alternator charges the batteries as we are using the engine and with our old one we had to run it for several hours and would still not top up our battery bank. So as our plan is to sail to Greenland, taking a northern route back to Sweden where the sun is lower, and foggy or cloudy days are more common, being able to charge our batteries faster seems like an important upgrade at this time.

But could these problems cause us to miss the weather window we have planned for Greenland? It's a stressful time to say the least!

We are Emmy and Marcus, a Swedish couple who has decided to leave our home and set sail out into the world with our boat Linnea. After a season in the Caribbean, we decided to leave Linnea in Trinidad and fly back to Sweden for the hurricane season. This allowed us to get an extra year of sailing and reach even more beautiful destinations for our second season of cruising. For now the goal is Greenland and back home to Sweden, via the Caribbean, BVIs, Bahamas, US east coast, and Canada. But who really knows how far our dreams might take us?
