White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt hit back at South African President Cyril Ramaphosa after he criticised U.S. President Donald Trump for boycotting the G20 summit in Johannesburg. Responding sharply, Leavitt said, “I saw the South African President running his mouth a little bit against the United States and the President earlier today, and that language is not appreciated by the President or his team.” Ramaphosa had accused Washington of “bullying” and mocked what he called a last-minute scramble by the Trump administration to join the summit. Despite the criticism, Leavitt confirmed that the United States will not participate in the G20 meeting.
