(23 Apr 1962) HMS "Victory", memorial to Nelson's great victory off Cape Trafalgar (nearly 160 years ago) is today one of the sights at Portsmouth. This magnificent old warship is in the process of being re-rigged. Not for the first time, of course, but it involves the use of more than 8 tons of rope. The fibre of sisal is what these ropes are made of, and the ropery supplying "Victory" with hers is this one at Chatham. Our cameramen had a good look round to watch the build-up. The method of manufacture follows the old tradition, responsible for "Victory's" original rigging, made about 200 years ago.
