Ibn Arabi was a great proponent of Sufism. He believed that Sufi is a reflection of the reality of God. The result of the Sufi path is the intimate experience and the pure knowledge of Divinity. Al Sarraj defined the virtues that the Sufi develops. First, repentance and scruple, then abstinence and poverty, patience and trust, and finally satisfaction and contemplation. Ibn Arabi died in Damascus on November 10, 1241. His grave, in which two of his sons were later buried, is still preserved and venerated. On it, the Ottoman Muslims built a madrasa & a shrine.
