U2 - New York Guitar Tutorial (Part 1) - Effects Settings

Once again using Amplitube and a screen capture to explain to you guys the effects settings. Most important is that the song is at 123 BPM (the backing track I used is anyway).

In terms of DELAY: the dotted eighth delay time that corresponds to this tempo is 365 ms. The main delay for the 1st and 3rd verses and the chorus should have a couple repeats (3 or maybe 4 repeats) and should be kinda high in the mix but not too high. The second delay used during the 2nd verse for that warble effect should use the same delay time (365 ms) but should have more repeats (5 or 6) and should have a lot of modulation (like a chorus or vibrato effect).

The filter effect for the 2nd verse doesn't need to be anything fancy. As long as you get a "funky" guitar sound along with your delay you should be fine.

The verses are all clean. Maybe push your amp slightly for a touch of drive but nothing more. During the chorus I would suggest using a pretty heavy drive. Your distortion/drive should give you a "punchy" "fat" or "meaty" sound. I also would suggest going for a slightly darker dist/drive sound here as well as you don't want it to sound too "metallic". I've made that mistake in the past.
