Observed Tornado Warning! Thunderbolt 1003 Siren Activation

On 4/2/24 at 11:53 PM, the National Weather Service of Peachtree City issued a radar indicated tornado warning for Rockdale County, GA. Just minutes later at 11:56 PM, it was then upgraded to observed. And at 12:02 AM, they would then extend the warning to include Monroe, Loganville and Walnut Grove in Walton County until 12:45 AM EDT. At about 12:30 AM the warning was cancelled after the tornado had dissipated for the final time.

"Rockdale Emergency Management Director Dan Morgan said representatives from the National Weather Service were in Rockdale Wednesday afternoon and had confirmed that an EF 2 tornado, with wind speeds of 111 to 135 mph, had touched down in the McDaniel Mill Road corridor just south of Interstate 20 at about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, and had come close to touching down in the Milstead Avenue area and the Milstead Village area. Morgan said the tornado then dissipated and re-emerged headed north up through Walton County."
