We know you're looking forward to a fun-filled 4th of July celebration here in Miami-Dade County, but staying cool in our summer sun is a top priority! That's why we have Chief Heat Officer Jane Gilbert reminding everyone to be heat smart.
While we'll have cooling stations set up to help you beat the heat, it's important to come prepared too! Here are some tips:
☀️Pack plenty of water and stay hydrated throughout the day.
☀️Wear loose-fitting, lightweight clothing that protects you from the sun.
☀️Don't forget sunscreen! Reapply often, especially after swimming.
☀️Take breaks in the shade and avoid strenuous activity during the hottest part of the day.
By following these simple steps, you and your family can have a safe and enjoyable 4th of July celebration!
