Stage 2 - Golling to Bischofshofen - 27.6km 75 minutes - 270m ascent - 190m descent.
Starting on the outskirts of Golling an der Salzach, the Alpe Adria cycle path travels through the town and then alongside the Salzach river. We travel alongside the Tennengebirge range then up to the Hohenwerfen castle (which featured in the films 'Where Eagles Dare' and 'The Sound of Music'). We hug the river through Pfarrwerfen and finish in the beautiful Bischofshofen.

Alpe Adria Cycle Trail:
The route leads from the historic city of Salzburg to the beautiful resort town of Grado on the Italian Adriatic covering approximately 410 kilometres. Along the way, you cycle through the splendour of the Austrian Alps and past Hohenwerfen Castle (which featured in the films 'Where Eagles Dare' and 'The Sound of Music'). You also travel through the wonderful Austrian county of Carinthia, renowned for its sunshine, crystal-clear drinking quality lakes and rugged mountains. From Carinthia, the route crosses the Italian border joining a remarkable ex-railway line through the beautiful Tarvisio, through repurposed railway tunnels and over dedicated bridges that once ferried many rail passengers through the Italian Alps. The route then moves through the Friuli wine region and into the lovely city of Udine before finally venturing out to the Adriatic coast and the charming coastal resort town of Grado.
