San Psema | ΣΑΝ ΨΕΜΑ | Like a Lie

Petros is a successful advertising executive who raises his daughter Alice alone ever since his wife left them years ago. To spare the little girl’s feelings, he tells her a “sweet” lie: that her mother works in Africa and sends her postcards and letters — letters that Petros himself writes and sends, signing them as if from her mother.

Petros has managed to keep his daughter believing this lie—until her sixth birthday, when Alice eagerly expects her mother to come back from Africa. Around the same time, while searching for a location to shoot a commercial, Petros meets Zoe, a young beautiful woman whose family owns a quaint café in town. Zoe shares something in common with little Alice: her mother abandoned her as well.

Zoe initially misunderstands Petros’ intentions, thinking he wants to buy her family’s café. But when she realizes her mistake, she bakes a cake and visits Petros’ home to apologize. That very day is Alice’s birthday—and upon seeing Zoe, Alice immediately believes she is her mother.

Unable to tell the truth, Petros upholds the lie that Zoe is Alice’s mother. But after Zoe moves into their home, this lie gradually grows bigger. One lie leads to another, and situations become increasingly unpredictable.

Thus begins a powerful, yet complicated love story full of twists and turns that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats...
