If you ever wanted to experience paradise while being slowly drained of your will to live (and your wallet), welcome to Bali and Nusa Penida.

Beautiful cliffs, turquoise water, and the eternal chorus of scooter horns.
Every viewpoint, waterfall, and coconut stand comes with an entry fee — it’s like being a walking ATM with sunscreen.

It’s gorgeous — cliffs, blue water, temples on edges of reality — but you’ll pay for everything short of breathing. And maybe that’s next.

Crowds? Everywhere.
Traffic? Eternal.
Nature? Stunning.
Human management of it? …less so.
As an introvert, this trip was basically a social endurance test wrapped in tropical humidity.

Snorkeling was still the highlight - no manta rays though, just me floating there like a disappointed potato.
Editing underwater footage? A personal hell of blue tint and shaky regret. Apologies for that.

And then there was Mount Batur.
We started the hike from the parking lot, not the “middle point” like all the lucky ones on scooters - meaning we got to enjoy an extra 2.5 km of pitch-black, exhaust-filled, car and scooters packed road before even touching the trail. Check with your guides BEFORE signing up for this trip.
