We start in the lively main tourist square, surrounded by local favourites like Casa Canita, Bia Mar, and Port Arade, all serving fantastic lunch menus from €15. We pass Bar Barril, which is split into two unique spaces – the main square terrace and a quirky side street with a barbecue grill and cosy terrace seating. Other gems include E & S Restaurant and a hidden Indian restaurant offering great value set lunches.

From here, we wander through Ferragudo’s colourful backstreets lined with souvenir shops, cafés, and traditional tiled houses. We climb towards the village church, which offers sweeping views over the River Arade towards Portimão.

Next, we make our way to Praia Grande, Ferragudo’s main beach. This beautiful sandy stretch offers calm waters, perfect for swimming, and is lined with beach bars such as Club Nau. Walking along the sand towards the castle, we pass more bars and finally end at the scenic rock formations at the far end of the beach.

Ferragudo is a charming blend of traditional Algarve fishing village life and relaxing beachside holiday vibes – and in this video, you’ll see why it’s a must-visit.
