Our neighbor let us help him out with a horse pasture reclamation project.
It was overgrown with caragana for more than 30 years.
We put this video together as a project video, showing the purpose of using the Promac mulcher, the mulcher in action, and the immediate results.
The neighbor was pleased, he commented that he never thought it could ever look this good. He was planning to seed and pull a drag over the ground to increase seed to soil contact. We will return with footage when the grass has grown.
The caragana (Caragana arborescens) is a hearty introduced species from Siberia. They were used extensively as a windbreak on the prairies. Locals also know this species as the barbed wire of the plant community. It is a challenge to remove from an area once established.
The Promac HSM 60 mulcher was highly effective at mulching the caragana and handling impacts with the rocks and steel.
