It's Saturday 18th June 2005, and as much of the UK was baking in the very hot weather (Birmingham was in the 80s - in Fahrenheit that is!), the European Union hits crisis point after an argument between the UK and France forced a breakdown of budget talks.
Earlier in the day, Sky Sports 2 was airing Soccer AM – or was it? Well, sort of. That's because during the summer gap between the 2004/5 season and the 2005/6 season, Sky Sports aired Summer Soccer AM, which was basically a series of highlights from Soccer AM during the football season just gone. One of the highlights shown on this particular episode is probably the most unforgeable moment of that particular series. And as a special treat, I've included it at the end of this video, so stay tuned right to the end!
As this was recorded via a Sky Digital Minidish, expect some 'press the red button' messages throughout this video which has the following adverts and trailers. By the way, the duo who was asking questions during the Yorkie Bar sponsorship spots are comedy duo Electric Forecast (Steve Marsh and Dan Wright) who was better know at the time as Big Cook Little Cook from the Cbeebies series of the same name.
