Plot(Spoilers):

Amadeus transfers school due to bullying. He meets Sullivan, who is the son of the principal .
Once Sullivan finds out Amadeus' secret, Sullivan views this as an advantage to help him in any way possible. Sullivan does not do well at school, leading to his dad being disappointed in him. His dad barely pays attention to Sullivan as a result of his bad grades. Sullivan has had a crush on Lavina for a while, so once Amadeus gets close to Lavina, he feels this need to hang around Amadeus more as Lavina had not talked to Sullivan much. He believed if he could understand what Lavina enjoyed about being around Amadeus, he could project that onto himself. Amadeus struggles with his past relationship, which still haunts him in his current life.

Zarek, Amadeus' ex, tries to break up any connection between Lavina and anyone close to her, or anyone he sees as a threat.Zarek is involved in a gang, which Sullivan owes money to. Due to money being a problem for Sullivan to achieve, he brushes it off for as song as possible while trying to make sure Zarek doesn't see him as an enemy.Zarek loves to be in control, it doesn't matter to who he's controlling. Once Zarek realizes Amadeus is still holding onto the past, he uses this so he can bring himself back into Amadeus' life. Sullivan struggles with the debt and his feelings for Amadeus. He believes what he has with Amadeus is just something to keep himself entertained while gaining his trust.

-Vampires have been extinct for millions of years. Any left have been told to stay in secret, to never be found out on what they truly are.
-Amadeus' Dad left him when he was younger, and when Amadeus was 15, their mum had 'died in a car crash'
-In reality, she had died from vampire hunters, causing Amadeus and his sister to move
-Vampires are able to teleport when they don't have strong negative emotions, they can regenerate, but how long it takes depends on how dire the wound is
Sullivan had never been in a serious relationship, always cheating and going after the next target
-Sullivan views dating as a game, nothing to be taken seriously
Sullivan struggles to read people. It takes him a while to understand how others feel
