VA Mental Health Services – The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs offers mental health care for veterans. Learn about treatment options (for PTSD, depression, substance use, etc.) and find help through the VA: mentalhealth.va.gov
MakeTheConnection.net – An VA website featuring real veteran stories and a searchable database of resources. Veterans share their experiences with PTSD, adjusting to civilian life, unemployment, and more. Vet Centers (Readjustment Counseling) – Vet Centers are community-based counseling centers offering free readjustment counseling, group therapy, and outreach to veterans and their families. They specialize in helping combat veterans transition to civilian life. Call 1-877-927-8387 (877-WAR-VETS) to find a nearby Vet Center or visit vetcenter.va.gov.
Hire Heroes USA – A nonprofit organization that provides free career coaching, job search support, and mentoring for veterans and military spouses. They can help with résumé writing, interview practice, and networking to improve job prospects in civilian careers: hireheroesusa.org.
NAMI Homefront – (National Alliance on Mental Illness) A free, six-session educational program for families, caregivers and friends of veterans and service members with mental health conditions.
