4K CABVIEW: Local service on the historic Hovedbanen

Local service on the historic Hovedbanen is filmed during the Easter and early spring in Norway.


The country is in a semi lockdown due to Covid but the trains still need to move forward so that people with critical jobs can get to work as normal.

Today we are traveling with L13, wich is Vys local service from Dal to Drammen on the historic Hovedbanen (The main line) in a Stadler Flirt Type 75.
Hovedbanen (Oslo to Eidsvoll) opened in 1854 and was the first line in Norway.

At the start of the video you can see the original station building in Eidsvoll.
We start off with some shunting and driving the train from Eidsvoll to Dal, closed for passengers.
At Lillestrøm we will exit the main line and enter Gardermobanen and Romeriksporten (The tunnel straight down to Oslo S).

Easter also means scheduled work on the railway. It is a good idea to do these upgrades when there are less travelers. So this journey with L13 does not go all the way to Drammen but ends in Asker.

We will at some places drive with lower speeds than normal due to less traffic (Leirsund - Lillestrøm and Sandvika - Asker).
