After the American Revolution, American society experienced a lot of change, with the children of American suffering as a result. One of the solutions was to establish state sponsored correctional facilities for children, the first being the Lancaster Industrial School for Girls. This new model of rehabilitation would change the way people looked at society, prisons, schools, and girls and women. Join Lancaster Historical Commission Member Amy Brown for this interesting talk on the history of the Lancaster Industrial School for Girls and its historical significance both locally and nationally.
