In this seminar, Clay Callaway from the Environmental Related Illness program at Maricopa County Environmental Services in Arizona, Sarah Scanlan from the State of Wisconsin Department of Agriculture Trade and Consumer Protection, and Danny Ripley from the Tennessee Department of Health provide expert insight on the key factors that distinguish successful foodborne illness outbreak investigations from others.
In particular, their focus was on conducting effective environmental assessments and provided insight into identifying the contributing factors and root causes of an outbreak. Available environmental assessment trainings, tools to identify and document contributing factors and root causes during investigations, and practical methodology for integrating environmental findings and collaborating with epidemiologists and laboratories were shared.
