Angle of deviation is angle between the incident ray produced toward and the emergent ray produced backward.


In this Physics ( ray optics ) video tutorial in Hindi we interrelated the angle of minimum deviation in a prism, the angle of prism and the refractive index of the material of the prism with respect to the surroundings. We also derived the same formula for a very thin prism.
While deriving the formula, we saw that the refractive index is the ratio of the sine of the mean of the angle of the minimum deviation and the angle of the prism to the sine of the half of the angle of the prism.
We also discussed the when deviation is minimum the angle of incidence is equal to the angle of emergence.
