Captain Bill Pinkney made history. In 1992, at the age of 55, he became the first Black man of any nation to circumnavigate the globe, becoming just the fourth out of five Americans to successfully accomplish the dangerous mission. Though beset by hearing loss and vertigo, he decided to sail ALONE around the globe, riding the wind SOLO for 27,000 nautical miles. And he chose to do it the hard way, navigating all five of the southernmost capes, including Cape Horn, the “Mount Everest of the Sea.”
What was meant to inspire his grandchildren engaged thousands of school kids as they followed his epic journey...This film is his story.
