Sunbow Entertainment was founded by Griffin-Bacal Advertising as Sunbow Productions in June 1980, and they were an American animation studio and distributor that lasted from the early 1980s to the mid 2000s. Their earliest television release was the first season of Great Space Coaster in January 1981, which lasted for five more years with five series, and it was co-produced by Metromedia Television. In late 1983, Sunbow would begin co-producing several series with Marvel Productions, some of which ended up as animated films (e.g. Transformer the Movie); their renowned collaborations include G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero (1983-86), the Transformers (1984-87) and My Little Pony 'n Friends (1986). Sometime after Sunbow Productions co-produced Conan and the Young Warriors (1994) with Graz Entertainment, they were renamed to Sunbow Entertainment in 1995 and also introduced a new logo symbol and animation, appearing on shows such as the animated series of the Mask (1995-97), the Tick (1994-96) and Salty's Lighthouse (1997). In May 1998, Sony Wonder bought Sunbow Entertainment "in order to expand to more original programming for their television division", and this is evident in their final logo from 1999 to 2004, which has a reminiscent design to the penultimate Sony Wonder logo from 2006-07. At the turn of the twenty-first century, TV-Loonland AG purchased Sony Wonder's television business assets (including Sunbow Entertainment) in October 2000, and they are noted in the byline of Sunbow's last logo in the Cramp Twins series (2001-04). After that series came to a close in July 2004, Sunbow Entertainment never produced or distributed any shows again, despite their logo was still present on the TV-Loonland website as late as November 2007 (ref. Internet Archive capture on Wayback Machine website); it is assumed they were defunct by TV-Loonland's demise in December 2009.
