Lamahatta to Siliguri - North Bengal Bike Trip

On the last day of our North Bengal bike trip our day started at Lamahatta. Last night we witnessed the illuminated view of Darjeeling from here. The morning broke with a pure bliss with the mesmerizing view of Kanchendzongha and sunrise. Lamahatta is indeed a beautiful place to stay near Darjeeling, avoiding the rushing crowd of tourists. At around 8 o'clock we ent to visit the nearby Lamahatta Eco Park, for which the place is famous. Entry fee here is 20/- per person. The park is well-maintained, rich in flora & fauna and there is a sacred waterbody at the top. You have to walk less than 1km to reach there, but it is worth visiting. After having breakfast at our Tenzing Homestay (highly recommended) we started for Siliguri. One can reach Siliguri from Lamahatta either via Kalimpong and Sevok side or via Ghoom, Kurseong side. We took the second option via our nostalgic Hillcart Road. The distance was around 70 km. But right after starting as we headed towards Takdah and Ghoom we faced huge line of traffic, mainly 4 wheelers. This line continued even after we reached Ghoom, almost beyond Sonada. Later we knew that due to the huge rush of tourists and vehicles police has fixed some timing for the cars to enter Darjeeling. Thats why this traffic restriction. However, through the scenic roads od Ghoom, Sonada, Tung, Kurseong, Rohini, Sukna, we finally reached Siliguri at around 1pm.
