Today I will show you how to add a spare HITAG-PRO mechanical key to a VW T-Roc using AVDI, RH850 Programmer and Protag.

Key Programming (Add Spare Key Hitag-Pro) and Module Replacement for VAG Immo 5C Vehicles (VN024) license is available at the ABRITES online shop. In order for the procedure to work, you will need at least one working key and a new or virgin aftermarket key for programming.

The first step is to collect the data from the working key (or keys). This is done using the RH850 menu under VAG MQB 5C Key Learning. Select the number of working keys you have and read their data with Protag.

After you read the keys, slide to the number of keys you want to program (1 in this case), and choose if you want to reuse the previously available key's data (key ID). I always choose to reuse IDs, since it is much easier and faster.

The next step is to take the dashboard out of the car, read and write it with the RH850 programmer. When ready, unsolder the CB501 wires and return all the removed capacitors, reassemble the dashboard, and put it back inside the car.

The final step is to program the keys back to the vehicle using Protag. It's a simple VAG Key Programming procedure under the ABRITES Diagnostics for VAG vehicles online menu. And that's all!
