Final Fantasy VIII was the second FF I've ever played, after IX. I'll admit, there was a pretty substantial learning curve for my underdeveloped middle school brain. I was scratching my head for a while, wondering why my level 100 Squall still seemed weak against most enemies. I had no idea what I was doing. My SeeD ranking was abysmal. I never found PuPu. I accidentally spread Triple Triad rules like a sailor with the clap. But at the end of the day, the music, atmosphere, and Squall's character arc still hit, and I can say to this day that it's in my top 3 FF games. FFVIII forever! ....or at least until the next Lunar Cry. Dun dun.

I can't tell you guys how proud I am of this album. Every song here, except "Fisherman's Horizon," was recorded after I started developing chronic problems in my wrist. In fact, I specifically chose to record "Breezy" and "Junction" after some sprains, since those songs involved less strenuous motions. So I guess I'll always associate FFVIII with my journey towards healing.

FYI, my wrist injuries are the reason why longer/more arduous tracks like "Eyes on Me," "Man With the Machine Gun," etc. are unfortunately not included here. I hope to do these songs someday, and if this album taught me anything, it's that I will figure it out. Hopefully, I'll also figure out how to train my dog to join me in battle. Launching him as a cannon could be dangerous, however, so my plan is to train him to aim his farts at enemies. The noxious fumes from his butt may rival even Malboro.

Now that this album is done, I DO plan to focus on completing songs from other FF games (looking at you, X...), but I still have a ton of songs from VIII that I'm dying to do in Vol. 2 album someday.

One last thing I wanna quickly say...my channel's views began to increase significantly last year. One of the catalysts for this was my performance of "Balamb Garden," which is currently still the most popular song on this channel. I never would've predicted that FFVIII songs would be what grew my channel (I figured it'd be VII 😂...), but I am so proud!
