Today, I’m sharing a recipe that will be the star of your dinner table: Bechamel sauce mushroom meat! The beef, cooked in a pressure cooker, is combined with a creamy Bechamel sauce and baked with melted cheese in the oven. I’ll show you how to make this delicious dish step by step.
Ingredients List:
500 gr cubed beef
2-3 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 large onion
2 bell peppers
3-4 green peppers
2-3 garlic cloves
1 tablespoon tomato paste
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon chili flakes
1 teaspoon black pepper
500 gr sliced mushrooms
1 tea cup of hot water
2 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 Turkish coffee cup of flour
2.5 cups milk
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
Grated cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
Red pepper flakes (optional)
Written Recipe:
Prepare the Meat: Heat 2-3 tablespoons vegetable oil in a pressure cooker. Wash and drain 500 gr cubed beef, then add to the cooker. Sauté the meat over high heat until it turns brown.
Cooking: Once the meat releases its juices, add 1 tea cup of hot water and close the pressure cooker. Cook on low heat for 25-30 minutes until the meat softens.
Add Vegetables: Once the meat's juices are absorbed, add 1 chopped onion, 2 chopped bell peppers, and 3-4 chopped green peppers. Add 2-3 crushed garlic cloves and 1 tablespoon tomato paste.
Add Spices and Mushrooms: Season with 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon chili flakes, and 1 teaspoon black pepper. Then, add 500 gr sliced mushrooms and sauté for a few minutes.
Prepare the Bechamel Sauce: In a separate pan, melt 2-3 tablespoons vegetable oil and 1 tablespoon butter. Add 1 Turkish coffee cup of flour and cook for a few minutes. Gradually add 2.5 cups of milk while stirring constantly. Add 1 teaspoon salt and ½ teaspoon black pepper.
Bake: Pour the prepared Bechamel sauce over the meat and vegetables in the casserole dishes, then sprinkle grated cheese on top. Bake in a preheated 180°C (350°F) oven for 15-20 minutes, until the cheese melts.
Tips:
You can adjust the Bechamel sauce’s consistency to your liking; make it thicker or more liquid.
Using a pressure cooker will save you time while tenderizing the meat.
When preparing the Bechamel sauce, make sure to add milk gradually.
Let the cheese melt and slightly brown in the oven to enhance the flavor.
If you have bay leaves, adding them will enrich the aroma.
