The Amiga was home to some of the most visually ambitious games of the late ’80s and early ’90s.
Large sprites, elaborate artwork, advanced animation techniques… on paper, many titles looked astonishing.
But once you picked up the controller, the illusion often fell apart.
In this video, we examine a broader pattern seen across several Amiga releases, where visual ambition pushed presentation forward, but gameplay design struggled to keep pace. Clumsy controls, poor balance, unfair difficulty, and design decisions that prioritized spectacle over playability.
This is not a list of the “worst games ever”, but an analysis of how visual ambition sometimes outpaced game design during a crucial era of home computers.
