Ar. Prakruti Ramchandra on Architecture and Urban design

Ar. Prakruti Desai is an Architect, Urban Designer and Researcher based in Surat city and is an Associate at the firm Aangan Collaborative LLP since 2015. She did her Bachelors in Architecture and Masters in City Design from FOA, SCET, Surat where she is serving in the capacity of Visiting Faculty in the courses of Architecture and Urban Design. She has been recipient of Gold Medals for academic excellence in both Bachelors and Masters courses and winner of the National NIASA Award for her P.G Thesis. Her paper ‘Challenges of a city with Heritage Core, A case of Surat’ was published in an International Journal as a part of the 19th Arcasia Forum. She co-authored and presented a paper on “Resurrecting Natural Water Systems in Urban Planning Process of India, The Only Way Out” at Conference on Hydro rationality in South Asia.
Having a strong inclination towards Public Architecture, she is instrumental to a number of Urban Design projects at Aangan Collaborative LLP. At Aangan, she pursues research and design for projects ranging from Urban Design & Place making, Institutional campuses, Public Parks, Museum and Residential architecture. She has been integral to projects like Redevelopment of Rander Gamtal as a historic urban village and Water Plaza- Khel Kund which have won national and international recognition. She is an integral part of Aangan’s prestigious projects like: Shaheed Smarak, Flower Park, Market redevelopment projects and The Vibrant Walkway. Prakruti has won a number of competitions like Park Design and Urban Design hosted by local authority.
