Diez anos en Bolivia with Nick Acheson

In this talk, Nick will describe Bolivia's landscape, biological and cultural diversity. He highlights Armonia's work to save the country's critically endangered endemic bird species including Blue-throated and Red-fronted Macaws.

Nick Acheson is a well known broadcaster, author, naturalist and conservationist. You'll recall that Nick kindly spoke to us a year ago about conservation initiatives for Curlew and Corncrake in E Anglia. Now he turns his attention to the conservation of birds in Bolivia.

Nick grew up in Norfolk squelching through saltmarshes and cycling quiet lanes in search of wildlife. He spent his youth volunteering for conservation NGOs including the RSPB. After studying French Literature he did an MSc in Environmental Conservation, both at Oxford University and commenced his travels in South America and Asia working in nature conservation and sustainable development projects. On his return he started work with the Norfolk Wildlife Trust and continues to bridge the gap between the arts and sciences through his writing and broadcasting.

During his time in South America, Nick lived for 10 years in Bolivia and he is still in close touch with with friends at Armonia, BirdLife International's Bolivian Partner.
